This project was completed over the course of four weeks. For the first few weeks, we were required to make abstract shapes using cardboard and hot glue. In the following weeks–we were then required to enhance the relationship between the interior and exterior of the shape. I decided to make a pinata for this reason, as they have both a strong presence within the interior and exterior.
This project was to create either a model of your hand or foot out of plasticine clay. I chose to make my model hand to scale, although it was not required.
This project was an introductory exercise to familiarize myself with the materials and processes of clay. Playdoh was used since it is cost-effective & low stakes! I chose to make a whimsical frog by combining primary colors and adorning him with beads and rhinestones.
While working on the podcast, I learned several things about my personal style as well as the application, Audacity, that I used to created it. In regards to my personal style–I learned that I enjoy having music throughout the entire clip and that I prefer some type of jazz. 2 I found it interesting that the copies of the books included warnings and statements of disapproval regarding the philosophical ideas that Lucretius was trying to get across (219). Hearing this, I wonder when or even if they have discontinued this practice of. Additionally, I wonder why, if the book is so bad to be in possession of–why were there many copies made. I feel like maybe it was because publishers knew that the book would be highly sought after…
2- I found it interesting that Poggio did not care to further examine the poem besides an initial glance (205). I would assume, with his level of thoroughness and examination–that he would give greater care to a piece of literature. 2- I find it interesting how difficult On the Nature of Things is to read yet alone understand. As mentioned on page 182, the collection of Latin poems is described as “knotty” and “difficult”. From my point of view–if I was a philosopher thinker and wanted my ideas to be accepted by others–I would make the material as digestible as possible.
