Looking back to some of the projects that I have completed over the course of my academic career at UNE, particularly after reading Harris’s chapter on revision–I definitely have projects in mind that I would consider revising. Firstly, I think that a project that I am most proud of would have to be my research paper that I wrote for my class History Hands on Topics: Holocaust in History and Memory (HIS 290). For this assignment, I conducted research using primary and secondary sources over the course of the semester and then wrote a nearly 20 page paper discussing the successes and failures of Monument Men during world war II. I think that with this paper, I would like to expand on my sources and try to find more archival material to strengthen my argument.

A sample of work I wish I could do over was a project that I completed for my class Sex and the City where I completed a guidebook on New York City Hospitals during the mid 1870s. The point of this was to simulate a mapbook that would have been used by residents in NYC to know what hospital to go to depending on where they lived and their socioeconomic status. I had a lot of fun with this project, however I ran into so many obstacles when searching for sources and struggled with locating archival material. Due to this, my information was often limited. I would love to actually do more research to create a more accurate guide.

I believe that one of the most memorable works and something I still think about  was the archival work that I did with the Westbrook Collections last spring for my internship. Specifically, I loved going through the student scrapbooks and seeing what these students thought to keep. Many times, it was things such as graduation programs, cards, photos, but sometimes you would also get notes between classmates, doodles, cupcake/food wrappers from parties they attended, etc. I still have questions on a lot of the items, particularly since I don’t know why the owner of the scrapbook kept them. For this project, I processed over a dozen scrapbooks–taking brief notes and then creating archival finding aid for future researchers. I would love to expand on this project and do individual research on one scrapbook and make a contextual description of each item within it. Alongside this, I think that digitalization could be an interesting way to incorporate new skills that I have not tried.
